This week it's fingerpicking week!
Fingerpicking allows you to get a lot of mileage out of just playing one chord. When we fingerpick we apply what are called 'Fingerpicking Patterns'. These are patterns that you play with your right hand that you then superimpose over chords.
I need to explain a little right hand background knowledge before we start:
Your thumb is 'p'
Your index finger is 'i'
Your middle finger is 'm'
Your ring finger is 'a' (not used in this pattern).
You'll find the above written next to the notation (not TAB) of each note in the music below.
Using the correct right hand fingering is crucial to executing these patterns correctly!
The pattern in question is a 2 beat (half a bar) pattern that we superimpose over each chord. We do have to make allowances for the lowest note being on differing strings though.
These patterns are going to lead up to us learning Road Trippin’ by Red Hot Chili Peppers. So check back soon.
All of these resources are made for free and they do take considerable time & effort.
If you're enjoying & finding them useful then please do consider donating (no matter how little) as a means of support.
Thanks so much, James.
